The richness of Jordanian culture is undeniable, but surely one of the highest points is its cuisine. It is not difficult to get used to something good, right? Yeah, well, this is the case.
Eating in Jordan is more than a physiological need, it is a pleasure. One of the characteristics of a Jordanian table is the abundance and variety of dishes. And we must say, all delicious.
Al-Balad, the center of the capital Amman, exudes traditionalism. Therefore, it is not difficult to find restaurants with real Jordanians menus. However, some establishments stand out for their historical, is the case of Hashem restaurant.
No luxury. A place which does not draw any attention, except for the intense movement of people. The plastic tables and chairs are always crowded and queues formed waiting for a vacancy.
The menu is practically pre-defined and the waiter will only ask you the how much food you want. Falafel, Hummus, the international fries and many other portions are served to be eaten without utensils, just pita bread and your hands. Accompanied by a traditional “chai” with mint leaves.
Surprisingly delicious. And cheap: expending 3 or 4 JD you will leave the place more than satisfied. No wonder the establishment has 59 years of existence and success in Amman. That’s a must for all who visit the capital of Jordan.
